Woman Killed, Man Seriously Injured In Halloween Night Bridgeport Shooting

A woman was killed and a man seriously injured in an overnight shooting on Halloween Night in Bridgeport.

The shooting took place around 11 p.m. Wednesday in front of 848 Maplewood Ave., said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police

When officers arrived on scene they found two victims, a 41-year-old woman, and a 28-year-old male. Both were transported by ambulance to St. Vincent's Medical Center, Harris said.

The woman died from her injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. The man received multiple gunshot wounds and is currently in surgery, Harris added.

Detectives are processing the crime scene and no further information is available at this time.

The woman's murder is the eighth this year. Last year there were 23 homicides in the city.
